Mercedes-Benz V-Klasse / EQV
The Mercedes-Benz V-Class is the passenger version of the W447 series and shares its body, wheelbase and engineering with the Vito van. The model comes in three lengths (4,895, 5,140 and 5,370 mm) with six, seven or eight seats and rear-wheel drive, or 4MATIC four-wheel drive. In the Netherlands the V-Class is used as an executive shuttle, for taxi and care transport, as a hotel and airport shuttle and as a base for wheelchair and camper conversions (Marco Polo). Since 2020 the fully electric EQV has been available alongside the diesel versions; it uses the same body but has a battery pack in the floor. Because the seat rows are removable, the V-Class is also used for combined passenger and cargo transport.
W447 V-Class (diesel/petrol) (2014-present)
The W447 replaced the Viano in 2014 and was given rear-wheel drive, three lengths and the 2.1-litre OM651 diesel. With the 2019 facelift the 2.0-litre OM654 diesel with 9G-TRONIC automatic replaced the 2.1-litre with 7G-TRONIC, including the new top model V 300 d. The second facelift in 2024 brought a new front end, MBUX with two 12.3-inch screens, a new steering wheel and a left-hand sliding door as standard.

EQV (fully electric, E447) (2020-present)
The EQV arrived in 2020 as the fully electric version of the V-Class, with an electric motor on the front axle and a battery pack in the floor; as a result its height is slightly above that of the diesel versions and the gross vehicle weight is 3,500 kg. Unlike the rear-wheel-drive diesels, the EQV has front-wheel drive. In 2024 the EQV received the same facelift as the V-Class, with a new front end, MBUX and two 12.3-inch screens.

The dimensions at a glance
Of the Mercedes-Benz V-Klasse / EQV there are 6 versions, load length 241 cm to 288 cm, load volume 4,2 m³ to 5,0 m³. The full dimensions table by version, with wheelbase, exterior dimensions, width between the wheel arches and Euro pallets, is on the dimensions page.
What the V-Klasse / EQV is known for
- Three lengths on two wheelbases, with 610 to 1,410 l of luggage space behind the last seat row and up to approximately 5,000 l with the rear seats removed
- Removable seat rows and rails, so the same vehicle can be set up as a minibus or as a van
- Rear-wheel drive with 4MATIC as an option, and a towing capacity of up to 2,500 kg (braked) on the diesel versions
- Shares parts and maintenance points with the Vito, which means there is a dense dealer and workshop network in the Netherlands
- Fully electric EQV variant with a 90 kWh net battery and 110 kW rapid charging within the same body
What to look out for on a used example
- On the 2.1-litre OM651 diesels (V 200/220/250 CDI, until around 2019) the timing chain with plastic guides is a known wear point; on a cold start, listen for rattling at the rear of the engine.
- Check the operation of the (electric) sliding doors and the rails and rollers: in taxi and shuttle use these go through many cycles and closing becomes heavier.
- With many short trips in city traffic, the particulate filter is a point of attention; ask about regeneration messages and oil dilution in the maintenance history.
- On the EQV, ask for a battery certificate or State of Health reading and for the charging history; the stated WLTP range of approximately 363 km drops noticeably in winter.
These points apply to the model in general. What applies to a specific vehicle depends on its maintenance history; we discuss this for every vehicle we sell.
