Isuzu D-Max
The Isuzu D-Max is a pick-up with a ladder frame chassis supplied in the Netherlands as Single Cab, Extended Cab and Double Cab. The model is built for work where payload and towing capacity count, such as in construction, landscaping, agriculture and for leisure and horse transport. All generations can tow 3,500 kg braked and most versions have a payload of around 1,000 kg or more. Alongside a diesel version, a fully electric D-Max EV with four-wheel drive has also been available since 2025.
D-Max (2nd generation) (2012-2020)
Completely new design with a more spacious cab and a 2.5 twin-turbo diesel with 400 Nm. In 2017 the 2.5 was replaced by a lighter 1.9 turbodiesel that met Euro 6 without AdBlue, with a new 6-speed automatic as an option.

What the D-Max is known for
- Braked towing capacity of 3,500 kg on all generations, including the electric D-Max EV
- Payload of around 1,000 kg or more, depending on cab and drivetrain
- Choice of three cab types (Single, Extended and Double Cab) with 4x2 or selectable 4x4
- Third generation with 240 mm ground clearance, 800 mm wading depth and a locking differential
- Since 2025 also as an electric version with a 66.9 kWh battery and permanent four-wheel drive
What to look out for on a used example
- Particulate filter (DPF): with many short trips the filter may not regenerate sufficiently; ask about the maintenance history and any DPF messages
- Check the chassis and load bed for rust, especially on second-generation examples and after use on gritted roads or in agriculture
- Test the engagement of the 4x4 and low range and listen for noise from the differentials; with towing, also have the tow bar and clutch assessed
- The 1.9 diesel of the third generation (Euro 6d) has an AdBlue system; check for fault messages and whether the fuel filter was replaced on time
These points apply to the model in general. What applies to a specific vehicle depends on its maintenance history; we discuss this for every vehicle we sell.
