Opel Movano
The Opel Movano is Opel's largest van and is intended for businesses that carry a lot of volume or weight. Until 2021 (Movano B) the model shared its engineering with the Renault Master and was available as a front-wheel drive and as a rear-wheel drive with single or twin rear wheels up to 4,500 kg. Since 2021 (Movano C) the Movano has been based on the Fiat Ducato and Peugeot Boxer, with 2.2-litre diesel engines and a fully electric version. The vehicle is supplied as a closed panel van, double cab, chassis cab and conversion base for box trucks, tippers and motorhomes. In the Netherlands the Movano is mainly used by installation companies, construction, removal firms and parcel and distribution transport.
Movano B (Master platform) (2010-2021)
Completely new generation based on the Renault Master, for the first time with front-wheel drive alongside the existing rear-wheel drive with single or twin rear wheels. In 2014 a facelift followed with new 2.3 CDTI BiTurbo engines and start-stop, in 2015-2016 the Euro 6 versions with AdBlue arrived and in 2019 a second facelift with a new nose, more driver assistance systems and engines from 135 to 180 hp.

Movano C (Ducato platform, incl. Movano Electric) (2021-present)
Since 2021 the Movano has been based on the platform of the Fiat Ducato and Peugeot Boxer instead of the Renault Master: front-wheel drive only, a wider load area and 2.2-litre diesel engines from 120 to 165 hp. From launch there has also been an electric Movano Electric, initially with 37 kWh and 70/75 kWh batteries. The 2023-2024 update brought an eight-speed automatic, a 180 hp diesel, a new digital interior with a 10-inch screen and an electric version with a 110 kWh battery and 270 hp.

The dimensions at a glance
Of the Opel Movano there are 26 versions, load length 258 cm to 438 cm, load volume 7,8 m³ to 17,0 m³. The full dimensions table by version, with wheelbase, exterior dimensions, width between the wheel arches and Euro pallets, is on the dimensions page.
What the Movano is known for
- Load volume of approximately 8 to 17 m3 and payload up to about 2,100 kg (Movano B with 4.5 t gross vehicle weight)
- The Movano C has 1,870 mm load width and 1,422 mm between the wheel arches, so a Euro pallet fits crossways
- The Movano B is also available with rear-wheel drive and twin rear wheels for heavy and tall conversions
- Wide choice of chassis and conversion variants for box truck, tipper and motorhome
- Dense dealer and service network in the Netherlands; parts are shared with the Renault Master (B) and with the Fiat Ducato and Peugeot Boxer (C) respectively
What to look out for on a used example
- The 2.3 CDTI in the Movano B has a timing chain, not a belt; on a test drive listen for rattling on a cold start and check the oil change history.
- On the 2.3 CDTI, failure of the EGR cooler is known, which can also damage the turbo; check for fault messages, soot emissions and loss of power.
- Euro 6 versions (Movano B from 2015 and all Movano C) use AdBlue and a particulate filter; short trips put strain on regeneration, so ask about AdBlue consumption and the fault history.
- On a heavily used example, check the sliding door rails and rollers, the rear door hinges and rust around the sills and wheel arches.
These points apply to the model in general. What applies to a specific vehicle depends on its maintenance history; we discuss this for every vehicle we sell.
