Mercedes-Benz Vito
The Mercedes-Benz Vito is a medium-sized van that has been built since 1996 and in the Netherlands is mainly seen on the road as a closed panel van, double cab (Mixto) and passenger version (Tourer). The current W447 generation came onto the market in 2014 and is available in three lengths with one roof height, with front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. Users include installation and construction companies, service providers, taxi and care transport companies and rental firms. Since 2019 there has also been a fully electric eVito, first with a 41 kWh battery and later with 60 and 90 kWh batteries. In terms of size, the Vito sits between the compact vans and the large Sprinter.
W447 (2014-present)
The W447 replaced the W639 in 2014 and for the first time was also supplied with front-wheel drive, alongside rear-wheel drive and 4x4. In 2019/2020 a facelift followed with the new 2.0-litre OM654 diesel engines, the 9G-TRONIC automatic for all rear-wheel-drive versions and an updated interior with MBUX. From 2019 the electric eVito was added, whose battery capacity grew in steps from 41 kWh to 60 and 90 kWh.

The dimensions at a glance
Of the Mercedes-Benz Vito there are 9 versions, load length 159 cm to 306 cm, load volume 5,5 m³ to 6,6 m³. The full dimensions table by version, with wheelbase, exterior dimensions, width between the wheel arches and Euro pallets, is on the dimensions page.
What the Vito is known for
- Three lengths (L1 4,895 mm, L2 5,140 mm, L3 5,370 mm) with a load volume of approximately 5.5 to 6.6 m3
- Available with front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive and permanent four-wheel drive
- Exterior height below 2 metres, so most car parks remain accessible
- Fully electric eVito with the same load area as the diesel versions
- Extensive dealer and service network for commercial vehicles in the Netherlands
What to look out for on a used example
- Check the operation and lubrication of the sliding door rails and the electric sliding door; rust occurs on wheel arches, sills and weld seams.
- On high-mileage diesel engines: pay attention to the injectors, EGR valve and particulate filter, and to the condition of the AdBlue system on Euro 6 versions.
- Have the VIN checked by a Mercedes dealer for outstanding recall and service campaigns; an emissions software update has been carried out for the 1.6-litre OM622 (109/111 CDI).
- Request the maintenance history: the Vito uses flexible ASSYST intervals, so the actual distance between services differs depending on use.
These points apply to the model in general. What applies to a specific vehicle depends on its maintenance history; we discuss this for every vehicle we sell.
Compare the Vito with another model
