Opel Vivaro
The Opel Vivaro is a medium-sized van that in the Netherlands is mainly used by installation companies, construction and service companies, parcel carriers and municipalities. The Vivaro B (2014-2019) shares its engineering with the Renault Trafic and was supplied with 1.6 CDTI diesel engines in two lengths and two roof heights. The Vivaro C (from 2019) is based on the Stellantis platform of the Peugeot Expert and Citroen Jumpy and has a lower overall height of approximately 1.90 m, so the model fits under most car park barriers. In addition to diesel engines, this generation is also available fully electric as the Vivaro-e, later Vivaro Electric. Both generations also exist, besides the closed panel van, in versions with a double cab, a chassis cab and a Combi for passenger transport.
Vivaro B (2014-2019)
Completely new model, developed together with Renault and technically identical to the Renault Trafic III; the previous generation still shared its base with the Nissan Primastar. All engines are 1.6 CDTI four-cylinders (Renault R9M), available as single turbo and as BiTurbo. With the 2016 update the engines moved to Euro 6 and the power outputs were revised to 95, 120, 125 and 145 hp.

Vivaro C (incl. Vivaro-e / Vivaro Electric) (2019-present)
The Vivaro moved to the Stellantis EMP2 platform, making it technically identical to the Peugeot Expert, Citroen Jumpy, Toyota Proace and later the Fiat Scudo. The body became lower (approximately 1.90 m) and the engines came from the PSA family: 1.5 and 2.0 BlueHDi diesels, supplemented from 2020 by the fully electric Vivaro-e with a 50 or 75 kWh battery. With the 2024 facelift (Vivaro Electric and new diesel range) the short L1 length was dropped, the model gained the new Vizor front end and the 2.0 diesel was replaced by a 2.2 diesel with 150 and 180 hp.

The dimensions at a glance
Of the Opel Vivaro there are 14 versions, load length 180 cm to 294 cm, load volume 4,6 m³ to 8,6 m³. The full dimensions table by version, with wheelbase, exterior dimensions, width between the wheel arches and Euro pallets, is on the dimensions page.
What the Vivaro is known for
- Payload up to approximately 1,400 kg and a load volume of 4.6 to 8.6 m3, depending on generation and body variant
- At approximately 1.90 m overall height, the Vivaro C stays below the usual height limit of car parks
- A load-through hatch under the passenger bench extends the load length to approximately 4.0 m (Vivaro C L3) and 4.15 m (Vivaro B L2) respectively
- Fully electric variant with a 50 or 75 kWh battery and a WLTP range of up to approximately 350 km
- Wide supply on the Dutch used market and a dense dealer and service network
What to look out for on a used example
- The 1.6 CDTI (Renault R9M) in the Vivaro B has a timing chain; on a test drive listen for rattling on a cold start and ask about the turbo and injector history, as turbo wear is regularly reported on this engine.
- The 1.5 and 2.0 BlueHDi diesels in the Vivaro C use a timing belt that runs in oil; stick to the replacement interval prescribed by the manufacturer and check that it is recorded in the maintenance history.
- The particulate filter and EGR need extra attention with predominantly short trips; check for fault messages and for a fully filled AdBlue system on Euro 6 versions.
- On an example used commercially, check the sliding door rails, the closing of the rear doors and the condition of the load floor and bulkhead.
These points apply to the model in general. What applies to a specific vehicle depends on its maintenance history; we discuss this for every vehicle we sell.
