Ford Transit Courier

The Ford Transit Courier is the smallest van in Ford's Transit range and is supplied as a closed panel van in one length and height. The first generation (2014-2023) is technically related to the Fiesta and B-Max and was available in the Netherlands with a 1.0 EcoBoost petrol engine and 1.5 and 1.6-litre TDCi diesels; a facelift followed in 2018 with Euro 6.2 engines, a six-speed gearbox and the Limited trim level. The second generation (from 2023/2024) is based on the Puma, is built in Craiova (Romania) and is larger, with 2.91 m³ of load volume. In the Netherlands this generation first came with 1.0 EcoBoost petrol engines and a 1.5 EcoBlue diesel and then as the fully electric E-Transit Courier, which is now the only variant offered in the Netherlands.

Transit Courier (first generation) (2014-2023)

Introduced in the Netherlands in July 2014 with the 1.0 EcoBoost (100 hp), 1.5 TDCi (75 hp) and 1.6 TDCi (95 hp), all with a five-speed gearbox. Facelift April 2018 (deliveries from June 2018): new grille and bumper, SYNC 3 with 6-inch touchscreen, Euro 6.2 engines (1.0 EcoBoost 100 hp, 1.5 TDCi 75 and 100 hp), a new six-speed manual gearbox and the new Limited trim level.

Trim levels

AmbienteBase version with the essential equipment; from the 2018 facelift including radio, Bluetooth, USB and an adjustable steering wheel.

TrendAdds equipment including a sliding door, extra storage compartments, electric windows and heated electrically adjustable door mirrors.

SportSporty-looking version with body-coloured bumpers, contrasting stripes, 16-inch alloy wheels and a leather steering wheel with red stitching.

LimitedAvailable from 2018 with SYNC 3 with 6-inch touchscreen, cruise control, climate control and rear parking sensors as standard.

Transit Courier (second generation) (2023-present)

New model based on the Puma, built in Craiova (Romania). In the Netherlands initially available with the 1.0 EcoBoost (100 and 125 hp) and 1.5 EcoBlue (100 hp); the 125 hp petrol with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. The electric E-Transit Courier followed later (43 kWh net, WLTP approximately 293 km); from early 2026 with a 46 kWh battery (net) and up to 325 km WLTP range, with a 5G modem as standard. Ford Netherlands now offers the Transit Courier in electric form only.

TrendStandard equipment includes SYNC 4 with 8-inch touchscreen (E-Transit Courier: two 12-inch screens), wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, lane keeping assist, Pre-Collision Assist, rear parking sensors, heated electric mirrors and a right-hand sliding door.

LimitedBetter-equipped version that adds extra comfort and equipment items above the Trend; on petrol only with the 125 hp automatic, and also available with the diesel and electric.

What to look out for on a used example

On the first-generation 1.0 EcoBoost, check the cooling system (coolant level, leaks) and the maintenance history, as overheating on this engine requires attention.
On the TDCi and EcoBlue diesels, check that the particulate filter and EGR system work properly and that the timing belt has been replaced on schedule; on the EcoBlue also check the AdBlue system.
On a used E-Transit Courier, check the battery status (State of Health) and which battery (43 or 46 kWh net) is fitted.
Check the load area, sliding door and the hatch in the bulkhead for damage from intensive commercial use.
