Ford Ranger
The Ford Ranger is a medium-sized pick-up with a ladder frame chassis, built for work where payload, towing capacity and off-road ability come together. In the Netherlands it is mainly supplied as a 4x4 with Super Cab or Double Cab and a payload of around 1,000 kg, with a trailer weight of up to 3,500 kg. The Ranger is used by contractors, landscapers, farmers, agricultural contractors, horse owners and recreational users who tow a boat or caravan. Many examples run on a grey registration; this is not the case for the 5-seat Double Cab versions of the current generation.
Ranger T6 (incl. the 2015 and 2019 facelifts) (2011-2022)
Completely newly developed Ranger (T6) with a larger size, more payload and 3,500 kg towing capacity. The 2015 facelift brought a new interior and 160 hp for the 2.2 TDCi; in 2019 the 2.2 and 3.2 TDCi were replaced by the 2.0 EcoBlue with an optional 10-speed automatic, and the Raptor came to Europe.

What the Ranger is known for
- Braked trailer weight up to 3,500 kg on most versions
- Payload of around 1,000-1,250 kg, depending on cab and engine
- Selectable four-wheel drive with reduction gearbox; Wildtrak with rear locking differential
- Choice of Single Cab, Super Cab and Double Cab with different load bed lengths
- Since 2025 also as a plug-in hybrid with approximately 43 km of electric range (WLTP)
What to look out for on a used example
- Check the service book and, on Euro 6 diesels (from approx. 2016), the operation of the AdBlue/SCR system and the particulate filter.
- Test the engagement of 4H and 4L and listen for noises from the transfer case and differentials; look under the vehicle for signs of off-road use or damage to the chassis and underbody panels.
- With a lot of towing: check the clutch (manual), tow bar and the condition of the rear suspension and load bed.
- With a grey registration, check whether the cab layout (bulkhead/2-seat conversion) meets the tax requirements; on the Raptor, conversion to 2 seats is mandatory.
These points apply to the model in general. What applies to a specific vehicle depends on its maintenance history; we discuss this for every vehicle we sell.
