Iveco Daily

The Iveco Daily is a van and chassis cab from the heavy segment: unlike most competitors it is built on a ladder frame chassis with rear-wheel drive, which makes it suitable for high weights and heavy conversions. The model is supplied from 3.5 to 7.2 tonnes gross vehicle weight, with load volumes from 7.3 to 19.6 m3 and body lengths of over six metres. In the Netherlands the Daily is mainly used by construction and installation companies, rental companies, high-volume couriers and as a base for box trucks, tippers, car transporters and motorhomes. Alongside the 2.3 and 3.0-litre diesels there is a CNG version and, since 2022, the fully electric eDaily. The current generation has been in production since 2014 and received facelifts in 2019 and 2022.

The generation introduced in 2014 kept the ladder frame chassis with rear-wheel drive, but gained a new body with roof heights of up to 2,860 mm and load volumes of up to 19.6 m3. The 2019 facelift brought Euro 6D engines, LED headlights, driver assistance systems and an updated interior with infotainment; the 3.0-litre was given an electronically controlled variable-geometry turbo and rose to 210 hp. The 2022 update introduced a fully digital instrument cluster, a larger screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and the fully electric eDaily with a modular battery pack.

The dimensions at a glance

Of the Iveco Daily there are 17 versions, load length 261 cm to 619 cm, load volume 7,3 m³ to 19,6 m³. The full dimensions table by version, with wheelbase, exterior dimensions, width between the wheel arches and Euro pallets, is on the dimensions page.

What the Daily is known for

  • Ladder frame chassis with rear-wheel drive; available up to 7.2 tonnes gross vehicle weight
  • Payload up to about 4,700 kg on the heaviest chassis cabs, up to approximately 1,500 kg on the 35S van
  • Load volume up to 19.6 m3 and body lengths of over 6.1 metres, more than most 3.5-tonne vans
  • 3,500 kg towing capacity as standard on most versions
  • Wide choice of engines from 2.3 diesel to 3.0 diesel, CNG and electric, with 8-speed Hi-Matic automatic from 136 hp

What to look out for on a used example

  • Timing: the 2.3 and 3.0 F1 engines have a timing chain; check for rattling on a cold start and ask for the service book.
  • Exhaust aftertreatment: Euro 6 versions have a particulate filter and AdBlue/SCR; many short trips lead to faults in regeneration and AdBlue dosing, so check fault codes and AdBlue consumption.
  • Rear axle and suspension: the rear leaf springs and the rubber suspension bushes wear with heavy, fully laden use; look out for sagging leaf springs and play in the suspension arms.
  • Body: check the sliding door rails and rollers, the closing of the rear doors and rust around the wheel arches and the bottom of the doors.
  • On chassis cabs with a conversion: ask about the inspection of the conversion (tail lift, crane, tipper) and its most recent annual inspection.

These points apply to the model in general. What applies to a specific vehicle depends on its maintenance history; we discuss this for every vehicle we sell.
