Dimensions Ford Transit
The Ford Transit (Mk8, from 2014, facelift 2019) is designated with an L code for the length (L2 = medium, L3 = long, L4 = extra long with overhang) and an H code for the roof height (H2 = high roof, H3 = extra-high roof). The L2 has a 3300 mm wheelbase, the L3 and L4 share the 3750 mm wheelbase; the L4 is longer thanks to a larger rear overhang. What matters when choosing is the drivetrain: front-wheel drive (FWD) gives a lower load floor and therefore approximately 100 mm more load height and half a cubic metre of extra volume compared with rear-wheel drive (RWD/AWD), while RWD offers more payload and towing capacity. The fully electric E-Transit uses the same bodies but is always rear-wheel drive, with the battery under the floor and no loss of load space.

Frequently asked questions about the dimensions
What do L1, L2, H1 and H2 mean?
L stands for the length (wheelbase and overhang), H for the roof height. The higher the number, the longer or higher the van. From H2 upwards you can stand upright in the load area on most models.
How many Euro pallets fit inside?
A Euro pallet measures 120 × 80 cm. What counts is the width between the wheel arches (at least 120 cm for two pallets side by side lengthways) and the load length. The "Euro pallets" column gives the number that fits flat on the floor.
Can I drive this van on a category B licence?
Yes, as long as the gross vehicle weight does not exceed 3,500 kg. Versions up to 3,500 kg are listed in the "Max. weight" column; heavier versions (5,000 kg, for example) require a C1 licence.
Are these dimensions correct for every vehicle?
These are manufacturer figures per version. Bodies (box body, refrigerated body, tail lift), roof racks and changes from year to year can differ. During a viewing in Mijdrecht we will measure the dimension that matters to you on the spot.
