Dimensions Ford Transit Connect

The second-generation Transit Connect (2013-2023, facelift 2018) is available exclusively with a low roof (H1) and in two lengths: L1 (short wheelbase) and L2 (long wheelbase, exactly 400 mm longer). The choice is therefore only about length: L1 offers 2.9 m3, L2 3.6 m3 and is the only one that takes a Euro pallet through the sliding door. Alongside the panel van there was a Double Cab-in-Van with a second row of seats (considerably less load space) and, until 2018, a Kombi with windows. Note: Ford measures the load length at floor level (1,753 / 2,153 mm); many Dutch dimension tables quote the shorter figure up to the bulkhead (approximately 1,550 / 1,950 mm).

L1H1short wheelbase, low roof (panel van)The load length of 1,753 mm is the factory figure at floor level; Dutch tables often quote approximately 1,550 mm (at bulkhead height). With the load-through hatch in the bulkhead up to approximately 3,000 mm. Without a bulkhead the volume increases to approximately 3.7 m3. The exterior height varies between 1,841 and 1,864 mm depending on version and wheel size. 266 cm 443 cm 184 cm 184 cm 175 cm 154 cm 123 cm 127 cm 2,9 m³2 1970 – 2340 kg 625 – 865 kg
L2H1long wheelbase, low roof (panel van)Dutch tables often quote a load length of approximately 1,950 mm (at bulkhead height). With the load-through hatch up to approximately 3,400 mm. Without a bulkhead approximately 4.4 m3. The only version that takes a Euro pallet through the sliding door (door opening 833 mm versus 615 mm on the L1). 306 cm 483 cm 184 cm 184 cm 215 cm 154 cm 123 cm 127 cm 3,6 m³2 2085 – 2405 kg 714 – 1004 kg
L1 Double Cabin-Van - short wheelbase, double cab (5 seats)The exterior dimensions are identical to the panel van L1; the load volume of 1.2 m3 applies with the bulkhead and the second row of seats in the in-use position and comes from a single source. Frequently asked questions about the dimensions

What do L1, L2, H1 and H2 mean?

L stands for the length (wheelbase and overhang), H for the roof height. The higher the number, the longer or higher the van. From H2 upwards you can stand upright in the load area on most models.

How many Euro pallets fit inside?

A Euro pallet measures 120 × 80 cm. What counts is the width between the wheel arches (at least 120 cm for two pallets side by side lengthways) and the load length. The "Euro pallets" column gives the number that fits flat on the floor.

Can I drive this van on a category B licence?

Yes, as long as the gross vehicle weight does not exceed 3,500 kg. Versions up to 3,500 kg are listed in the "Max. weight" column; heavier versions (5,000 kg, for example) require a C1 licence.

Are these dimensions correct for every vehicle?

These are manufacturer figures per version. Bodies (box body, refrigerated body, tail lift), roof racks and changes from year to year can differ. During a viewing in Mijdrecht we will measure the dimension that matters to you on the spot.
