Dodge Ram 1500
The Ram 1500 is an American full-size pick-up supplied in the Netherlands through specialist importers and Ram dealers. Thanks to a load bed that is clearly separate from the cab and a gross vehicle weight of up to 3,500 kg, it can be registered as a commercial vehicle on a grey registration. It is mainly used by business owners and self-employed people who tow a heavy trailer, such as horse trailers, boats or plant trailers, and at the same time want a spacious five-seat cab. Many examples in the Netherlands run with an LPG system to limit the fuel costs of the petrol engines.
Ram 1500 (DT), fifth generation (2019-present)
New body with a lot of aluminium, 48V eTorque mild hybrid, air suspension and a 12-inch screen. From model year 2025 a facelift with the 3.0 Hurricane six-cylinder in place of the V8; for model year 2026 the 5.7 HEMI eTorque returned.

What to look out for on a used example
- On the 5.7 HEMI, check for ticking valve lifters (lifter tick) and a cold-start noise; this is a known point of attention on this engine.
- With an LPG system, have the inspection date of the tank (10 years) and the maintenance history of the system checked.
- On versions with air suspension, test whether all ride heights work and that the vehicle does not sink after standing.
- Check whether the grey registration matches the layout (bulkhead, load bed) and whether the BPM status was handled correctly on import.
