Request a lease quote4x2 or 4x4: which drivetrain do you need?
The choice between 4x2 and 4x4 largely determines what you'll use the pick-up for. If you mainly drive on paved roads and mostly transport tools or materials, a 4x2 version is often sufficient and more fuel-efficient. If you work on construction sites, in agriculture, or need to tow a trailer over loose terrain, 4x4 with a lockable centre differential or low-range gearing is the safer choice. When buying a used vehicle, pay attention to the condition of the drivetrain: if in doubt, test-drive the four-wheel drive on uneven ground and check whether the hub or coupling engages smoothly. A pick-up that has always driven in the city has often barely used this system, which is actually beneficial in terms of wear.
Cab configuration: single cab, extra cab or double cab
Pick-ups are available with a single cab (2 seats, longest load bed and highest payload), extra cab or king cab (a small extra space behind the seats for tools, without a full rear bench) and double cab (up to 5 seats, shorter load bed). For pure transport work with a small team, a single cab or extra cab is the most efficient choice, as it leaves you with more load space. If you regularly transport a full team to the work site, a double cab is more practical, although this results in an average payload reduction of 300 to 500 kg compared to the same pick-up with a single cab. So first determine how many people and how much cargo you need to transport at the same time before making a choice.
Payload, driving licence and weight class
Many pick-ups, with empty weight plus load, fall just below or just above the 3,500 kg gross vehicle weight limit. If the pick-up stays below this limit, you can drive it with a standard category B driving licence. If the pick-up is fitted with a hardtop, canopy, winch or heavy bumper, the total weight can sometimes exceed 3,500 kg, in which case you'll need a category BE or C1 driving licence to legally drive it. Always check the registration certificate for the permitted gross vehicle weight (part 1, under F.2) before buying a pick-up, especially if you plan to add accessories that further increase the weight.
Buying or Financial Lease: what suits your business?
With a direct purchase, you become the owner immediately and have no ongoing monthly payments, but the costs place a one-off strain on your working capital. Financial Lease spreads the investment over a term of up to 72 months, allowing you to use the pick-up while keeping your liquidity available for other business expenses. At Tatev Auto, this is possible with up to 100% financing, even for start-ups or self-employed professionals, and the pick-up is registered in your name once the contract ends. Weigh up for your business whether the tax benefits of ownership (such as depreciation) outweigh the flexibility of spread payments, and request a sample calculation if you're unsure.
