Mijdrecht — A2 exit 9
A box truck without tail lift is the lightest and most affordable version of the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter box truck: ideal when you load and unload yourself or always work at a dock with a loading platform. A version with tail lift adds a hydraulic lift that lets you load heavier goods on your own, at the cost of extra weight, price and maintenance. Our Sprinter box truck stock changes quickly; at the moment we don't have an example in this specific configuration in stock, but we do have 28 Sprinter panel vans from €11.900 excl. VAT. Get in touch or view our current stock, and we'll let you know as soon as a suitable box truck or furniture box van comes in.

Box truck with or without tail lift: what suits your work?

A box truck without tail lift is lighter, cheaper to buy and maintain, and has a higher payload because there's no heavy hydraulics hanging off the back. This version is the best choice if you work with a forklift, pallet truck or loading dock, or if your deliveries always take place at a dock. A box truck with tail lift costs more and weighs more, but saves physical effort when you need to load or unload goods of roughly 500-1,000 kg on your own while on the road without any aids, for example when delivering to locations without a loading platform. Always factor the lift into the payload: on a 3.5-tonne vehicle, a tail lift can easily take 80 to 150 kg off your usable load.

Furniture box van or standard box truck: the difference

A furniture box van is a light, insulated body with a low, flat loading floor and often a large side door; ideal for removals, furniture transport and delivery of fragile goods. A standard box truck has a sturdier, often non-insulated body made of aluminium or coated sheet metal and holds up better to heavy, abrasive transport such as building materials or pallets. When checking a furniture box van, assess the condition of the floor covering and insulation, and on a standard box truck check for dents, rust along the lower edges and the condition of the tail lift hinges, if fitted.

What to look for when buying a Sprinter box truck

First check the load compartment dimensions against your pallets or cargo, and whether the wheelbase (L1 to L4) and roof height (H1/H2) suit your driving licence and garage clearance. Check the payload on the registration certificate, not just the gross vehicle weight: on box trucks with a tail lift, this payload is lower. Inspect the body for rust, misaligned doors and working lights, and ask for the service book and the latest APK (MOT/TÜV) inspection. If there's a tail lift, it's wise to run a functional test during viewing: let the lift go all the way up and down and check for leaks at the hydraulic cylinders.

Buy a box truck or use Financial Lease?

With a purchase you become the owner immediately and pay no interest over the term, which is advantageous if you'll use the box truck for more than five years or have sufficient capital of your own. Financial Lease spreads the investment over up to 72 months and keeps your working capital free for stock, staff or unexpected costs; after the final instalment you become the owner. Even as a start-up or sole trader, Financial Lease up to 100% of the purchase value is possible, without having to set aside a down payment first. Request a trial calculation to compare the monthly costs with a one-off purchase.

What is the difference between a box truck with and without a tail lift?

Without a tail lift, the box truck is lighter, cheaper and has more payload; ideal when loading via a loading dock or forklift. With a tail lift you can load and unload heavy goods on your own, but this costs roughly 80 to 150 kg of payload and increases the purchase price.

Does Tatev Auto have a Mercedes Sprinter box truck in stock?

Is a box truck without a crane available?

A standalone loading crane on box trucks is usually an option, not a standard part. If you're specifically looking for a box truck without a crane, virtually any regular Sprinter box truck without an extra crane combination will already meet that requirement.

What does a used box truck with a tail lift cost?

The price of a used box truck with a tail lift depends on year of manufacture, mileage and the brand of the lift, and is generally higher than a comparable box truck without a lift due to the extra hydraulics. Always ask for the maintenance history of the lift.

Is a Mercedes Sprinter box truck available with petrol engine?

No, the Mercedes Sprinter box truck is supplied almost exclusively with a diesel engine; petrol is barely available in this heavy commercial vehicle segment. If you're looking for an alternative without diesel, ask about the electric eSprinter.

What payload does a Mercedes Sprinter box truck have?

The payload of a Sprinter box truck generally ranges from roughly 900 to 1,400 kg, depending on wheelbase, roof height and body type. A tail lift reduces this payload by roughly 80 to 150 kg. Always check the exact figure on the registration certificate.
