MAN eTGE van or heavy truck: what suits your business?

MAN offers both the compact eTGE van and heavier models such as the TGL, TGM and TGX. The eTGE shares its platform with the Volkswagen Crafter and, up to 3,500 kg, falls under a category B driving licence, making it ideal for light distribution and installation work. For heavier transport, construction work or use as a BE tractor unit, you'll want to look at the larger MAN models, which require a category C, C1 or BE driving licence. First determine what payload and which driving licence you need now and in the future, so you don't invest in a vehicle you're not allowed or able to use for your work.

What to look out for when buying a used MAN

Always ask for the complete maintenance logbook and check whether servicing has been carried out at the prescribed mileage intervals. For commercial vehicles and trucks, the odometer reading matters less than with passenger cars; engines are often more heavily built, but do check the particulate filter and AdBlue system for faults. Inspect the chassis and load bed for corrosion, especially on tippers and box trucks that have been kept outdoors. Check that the inspection certificate is valid: below 3,500 kg a regular APK (MOT/TÜV) applies, while heavier MAN vehicles require a periodic inspection. If a tachograph is fitted, have it checked for proper operation and calibration.

Buying outright or Financial Lease: which is more cost-effective for your business?

Financial Lease keeps your cash flow free: you finance up to 100% of the purchase value, with a term of up to 72 months, and the MAN is registered in your company's name once the lease is paid off.
